Article responce: Opening Shot

This event, the resignation of Hosni Mubarak gave the boost that the media in Egypt and other Arab country needed. Also the news of Mubarak spread all over the world including the United States. Most of the Egyptians that live in New York gathered in Time Square to protest and the coverage spread back to Egypt. The citizens that want Mubarak to step down found great use for the protests that the media has covered. The media across the country of Egypt and around it was influenced by this cause, for the first time the media was the voice of the people not the government or what religion dictates. This action even made it to the White House was President Obama made a speech asking, Hosni Mubarak to step down and be replaced by the person what the people want. This prompted him to step down.
The media was finally used in a democratic manner to remove a corrupt power to someone the people wanted. This shows me the power that media has and what the media can do, it is able to even change an entire country for better or for worse. The news not matter if it is radio, television, or in a paper it has the power to let people know what is going on. Even if it is not around them even across the world but it may affect anyone, this proves to me information is important no matter what it is.
