My visit to Manhattan to cover the protest, it was filled with challenges. It was not on the New York Times so I went to Manhattan heading to the route of the Financial District. Along the way I saw the crowd increase, and I end up in Zuccotti Park on Liberty Avenue. There I saw lots of different people from all walks of life, from the single mothers to the stock worker who got laid off. All in protest all united for one cause. I also saw that there were sleeping bags, old mattresses and thousands of blanks ready to sleep in the park. I was happy when I beat several journalists to a good story. CNN came with a hug truck but did not set up as yet; I even beat the student news paper from Harvard University. There were hundreds of police officers ready to control if things got out of hand.
This protest drew a lot of attention from the average New Yorkers to a lot of visitors. Several of the tour bus passed and slowed down to show the visitors what was going on. Before I knew it there was thousands more people started to show up, even more journalist began to show up to cover the news. I did manage to talk to a protestor named Trevor Roulstin age 25; he is a married man with two kids whose names I did not want to ask for. But I asked him one question what is the reason for all of this? His first response was “I can’t speak for everyone” so I said what made you do all this. He is here because he is tired of giving away one pay check to live in his house, and the other goes to food. He is also he is tired of Wall Street not caring of people with no money or not caring at all. Also I over heard from another protester that there will be a huge walk tomorrow.
